Puppies require a certain amount of training in order to socialize with human beings. Dogs have an innate nature of being obedient to their masters. However, a few training initiatives would help to ease the communication barrier between a puppy and its master. Name of the pup- To start with, it is important to make the pup familiar with its name. As human beings, we are habituated to call by names. Therefore, whenever you would want to call your puppy, you would eventually call its name.
Walking on leash- It is necessary to keep your pet under control when you take it out to some social function. Therefore train your puppy to walk on leash. It is important to make the pup walk freely without any force. Proper training would make the pup familiar to walk on leashes and collars, without applying much force or pressure by the owner.
Hygiene- Teaching to maintain cleanliness is highly necessary. Puppies are fond of making preferences and choose there are of urinating and defecating. It is necessary to help it choose designated spot for toileting. Take your pup to the designated area after it has completed eating; or has played vigorously; or even woken up from sleep. In case you find your pup urinating in any other place, simply take it to the designated spot.
Environmental habituation- Puppies might experience a lot of things from its natural environment. It is necessary to habituate it with innumerable emotions – animals, people, sound, objects etc. In case you find that your pup has experienced anything bad, try to downplay it and engage your pup in other familiar activities.

Lessons to stay home alone- Teach your dog to stay home alone. Help it to engage in simple activities that would keep it busy for over a period. Never do anything that would associate your puppy with isolation.
Lessons not to bite- Puppies that are raised under human care need training to restrain biting. Puppies and dogs may bite occasionally – even while they are playing. It is important to command them not to bite. Tap on its nose if it shows signs of biting while playing; or put it on the crate alone if it bites.
Training to lie on mats- It is very good to train puppies toilet on mats in public places. This helps to restrain pets in several public places. Train it to lie still on its mat until released. This would also help to keep it restrained from answering any stranger in public places.
Answering command- Train your puppy to answer your commands. It is necessary to teach young puppies to answer simple commands like ‘come’, ‘go’, ‘sit’ etc. this helps your puppy to behave in a sociable manner and also helps you to keep it under complete control.
Eye contact- Try to teach your pup the importance of making eye contact. Give it small rewards after it makes eye contacts. This also helps puppies to stay in control and helps them to put their attention on their masters.
